Chacruna is a perennial shrub from the Amazon jungle, and one of the main components of the ayahuasca preparation.
This product is from the Ucayali in Peru and sustainable rescourced.
Our leaves are picked fresh, washed then sun dried to maintain their active ingredients.
Chacruna, latein name Psychotria Vidris contains between 0.10%–0.66% alkaloids, most of which is dimethyltryptamine (DMT).
Chacruna is used mainly in combination with a vine known as Ayahuasca, also it is more uncommonly known that it is used by tribes as eyedrops for curing migraine headaches.
Normally, when ingested, DMT is destroyed instantly in the gut by the enzyme "Momo-Amine Oxidase" which is in the stomach. However, the harmine and harmaline alkalodis contained in the Ayahuasca, Banisteriopsis Caapi vine temporarily turn this enzyme off, allowing the Chacruna to work its magic.
Chacruna is a beautiful light and high frequency plant.
At Sungate we often powder the leaves and take a teaspoon a day over a course of 14 days to help with stress, depression and low mood.
Accompanied by a mug of cacao it can be a useful meditation aid and can also be used in an ayahuasca brew.
The ayahuasca vine itself is one of the best known "Mono-Amine Oxidase Inhibitors" (MAOI) to use with chacruna.
